Sunday Confessions: In the Car

The one thing that comes to mind when I think of "In The Car", is the time me, Stripper (my boyfriend) and Mini (my daughter) were on our way home last summer and 'Party In The USA' came on.
I'm not a big Miley Cyrus fan and was expecting Stripper to change the station. Instead, he turned up the volume and started singing LOUDLY. I looked at him in shock. This man knew every word!!
Now, we get enough stares already  because we are an interracial couple. You'd think in this day and age, people wouldn't glance twice if they saw a white woman and a black man together, but they do.
So as we come to a red traffic light, our windows are down, Miley is screaming in my ear along with Stripper, and I scoot down in my seat as far as I can go.
I could feel the stares of other motorists waiting at the light. The heat coming from my face was hotter than the glaring sun overhead.
Then I glanced over at Stripper. He had the biggest smile on his adorable face. His smile was contagious! Mini was in her carseat laughing and swinging her chubby little legs around. They both looked so happy. So I scooted back up in my seat. Screw other people and their stares. I wanted to enjoy that moment with my family!

  1. Love it! It's fun to be silly with our loved ones, screw the haters.

But did you sing with him?

  3. Yeah I do the scoot and hide over Frozen's soundtrack lately. Then I'm like, "No, I'm rocking it. I get stares when I'm with the kids blasting Ice Cube. This is totally kid friendly. I'm cool. I make this cool..." and I pep talk myself until I put my hands up, they're playing my song, the butterflies fly away... I'm noddin' my head like yeah. Movin' my hips like yeah...
